LEO AWARDS 2010 Roll out the Red Carpet For National Media and Westcoast Celebrities!

May 31st, 2010: Vancouver — On Saturday, June 5, the Leo Awards will once again roll out the Red Carpet to welcome VIPs, nominees, presenters, and guests as they arrive for the Gala Awards Ceremony.

Complementing the fashion stylings at the Red Carpet is the Vancouver Retail Divison of Mercedes-Benz Canada, the Official Vehicle of the Red Carpet. “The LEO AWARDS are a great celebration of local artists who create world-class work and Mercedes-Benz is proud to support that spirit,” said Jill Grant, Marketing Specialist with Mercedes-Benz Canada.

The LEO AWARDS Red Carpet will feature some of this year's Presenters and Nominees including Steve Bacic, Michael Eklund, Matt Frewer, Colby Johannson, Erin Karpluk, Kristen Kreuk, Lou Diamond Phillips, Ryan Robbins, and Amanda Tapping to name a few. They will arrive at the Westin Bayshore Vancouver between 4:00 and 6:00 pm, and will be available for photographs and interviews.

LEO AWARDS 2010 Hosts Announced!

May 26th, 2010: Vancouver — The Leo Awards are pleased to announce the hosts for the 2010 ceremonies. The duo of Sonya Salomaa and Benjamin Arthur will serve as Gala Awards Ceremony hosts on June 5th, while Ellie Harvie will return to host the Celebration Awards Ceremony on June 4th.

The Leo Awards is also proud to introduce Jacqueline Samuda as the “Goddess Voice” of the Leo Awards lending her voice talents to the pre-recorded and live portions of the festivities. Biographies of the hosts are available on the Hosts Page.

The Leo Awards 2010 marks the first appearance for both Ms Salomaa and Mr. Arthur. Meanwhile, Ms Harvie returns for her fourth appearance. “We’re excited about our 2010 hosts and have every confidence that their natural personalities will shine through to create two entertaining evenings”, says Walter Daroshin, Leo Awards president.

LEO AWARDS 2010 Tickets Now Available!

May 19th, 2010: Vancouver — Tickets for the LEO AWARDS 2010 Celebration and Gala Awards Ceremonies are now available. This follows the recent announcement of the LEO AWARDS 2010 nominees, a complete list of which can be viewed on the nominees by name page; furthermore, a complete list of nominated programs are available on the nominees by program page.

“We invite the entire community to celebrate artistic excellence with us at this year’s Leo Awards,” said Walter Daroshin, LEO AWARDS president. “There’s a confidence and optimism in the industry that's truly worth sharing.”

LEO AWARDS’ winners in 75 categories will be announced at two separate ceremonies where Program and Craft awards will be presented.

Tickets for the Celebration Awards Ceremony are available for $125 and tickets for the Gala Awards Ceremony are available for $200. Students, LEO AWARDS 2010 jurors and nominees are eligible for reduced price tickets. Ticket order forms can be downloaded from the LEO AWARDS web site on the tickets page, or tickets may be purchased by calling the LEO AWARDS office at 604-688-3721 ext. 36. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Leo Awards 2010 Nominees Announced!

VANCOUVER, BC – May 3rd, 2010 — Nominees for the Leo Awards 2010 were announced today. The complete list of nominees can be viewed here.

“Artistic excellence is alive and well in BC,” says Leo Awards president Walter Daroshin. “The film and television industry continues to be a driving force in the economy and creative sector of this Province and our 2010 nominees are testament to that.”

To determine the final nominations, Mr. Lui Petrollini, partner at Ernst & Young Chartered Accountants LLP, tabulated the ballots of 45 jurors who adjudicated 663 eligible entries comprised of 114 Program and 549 Craft entries.

The Leo Awards 2010 honour programs in 13 categories including Feature Length Drama; Dramatic Series; Short Drama; Documentary Program or Series (3 streams); Information or Lifestyle Series; Music, Comedy, or Variety Program or Series; Animation Program or Series; Student Production; Youth or Children’s Program or Series; Music Video; and Web Series.

Sixty-two Craft awards will also be presented in the categories of Direction, Screenwriting, Cinematography, Picture Editing, Overall Sound, Sound Editing, Musical Score, Production Design, Costume Design, Make-Up, Visual Effects, Stunt Coordination and Performance or Host(s).

Leo Awards 2010 Entries Are In!

VANCOUVER, BC – Mar 8th, 2010 — Following the close of entries for the Leo Awards 2010, the BC film and television awards program has received a total of 664 eligible entries, comprised of 115 program and 549 craft award entries.

“Once again we are pleasantly overwhelmed with the response to our Call for Entries” said Walter Daroshin, Leo Awards president. “There is so much quality work that takes place in this province on a regular basis. We are proud to celebrate the artistic excellence of British Columbians invested in film and television production.”

The number of eligible entries received for the Leo Awards 2010 will result in a total of 76 awards that will be handed out this year, including the annual Outstanding Achievement Award.

Adjudication for the Leo Awards will begin this week. Ernst & Young, Chartered Accountants, will once again tabulate the results to determine the nominees for the Leo Awards 2010. Nominees will be announced in early May and will be posted on the Leo Awards web site.

Leo Awards 2010 Call For Jurors Announced!

VANCOUVER, BC – Feb 24th, 2010 — The LEO AWARDS is now conducting a call for jurors to assist in the adjudication of entry submissions for 2010. This call for jurors is made to individuals working in the British Columbia film and television industry.

Selection of jurors is subject to the approval of the LEO AWARDS jurors seletion team.
