Hal Beckett & the Vancouver Film Orchestra - Gala Awards Ceremony, Sunday June 5

Composer/conductor Hal Beckett has received a Gemini Award, multiple Leo Awards and a Prime Time Emmy Nomination for his music. He is adept at writing music in all genres, from romantic comedies to horror movies and all kinds of animation. He has had concert work commissions with the Vancouver Symphony, Vancouver Chamber Choir, Victoria Symphony and the Kamloops Symphony. He has conducted orchestral ensembles for several recording artists (Bryan Adams, Michael Bublé, Marianas Trench, and soprano Ariel Sung) and is the music director for the Vancouver Film Orchestra, which, under his baton, performs and records scores for feature films, television, and other media projects.

Recent VFO scores include: ‘Olympus’ for Reunion Pictures/SyFy; ‘Pupstar’ for Air Bud Productions; ‘The Hollow’ for Brightlight/SyFy; and supervising orchestrations for the 2015 Pan Am Games. Previous clients include Miramax, Gold Circle Films, ABC Television, Infinity Features, Universal Pictures, Hallmark Entertainment, Lifetime Network and Brightlight Pictures.

Eli Bennett & EB Funk - Celebration Awards Ceremony Two, Saturday June 4

Four-time Leo Award-nominated film composer, Eli Bennett is quickly emerging as a top new talent. Based in Vancouver, BC, and the son of Grammy-nominated Canadian composer Daryl Bennett, Eli is part of a film-scoring legacy.

His films have premiered at the world’s most prestigious film festivals including Festival de Cannes, the Toronto International Film Festival, the Chicago International Film Festival, and Toronto’s Hot Docs. As the composer for over thirty film productions including feature and short films, commercials, trailers, documentaries and web-series, Eli’s music has been heard around the world in productions such as Through the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman (Science Channel), Take Back Your Power (Yekra), Human Harvest (Flying Cloud Productions), The Exhibition (Super Channel) and Believe: The True Story of Real Bearded Santa’s.

As an award-winning jazz saxophonist, Eli has performed twice at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles and shared the stage with the likes of Oscar Peterson and the Neville Brothers. His debut album Breakthrough was nominated for “Jazz Album of the Year” at the Western Canadian Music Awards, named “#4 Best Jazz Album of 2014” by the Ottawa Citizen, and featured on iTunes Canada Jazz as one of the top Canadian jazz albums for two months.

Joining Eli Bennett & EB Funk for the Leo Awards Celebration Awards Two is Scott Verbeek (guitars), Harvey Paris (keys), BP Jay Smith (bass) and Tayo Branston (drums).
