Capilano University, School of Motion Picture Arts
The Capilano University School of Motion Picture Arts (SMPA) in North Vancouver, BC, is a renowned, hands-on film school. Housed in the state-of-the-art Bosa Centre for Film and Animation, it offers diplomas, certificates, and a four-year bachelor's degree designed to prepare students for careers in the Canadian film and television industries. SMPA has been educating and training students since 1973 and continues to produce skilled and professional graduates that are valued throughout the British Columbia film, television, and creative industry.
The program is designed to develop filmmakers with a strong foundation in storytelling and the creative vision needed to stand out in the industry. Students learn from experienced instructors whose professional backgrounds bring depth and real-world perspective to the classroom. The program also gives students access to state-of-the-art film technology and equipment, providing valuable hands-on experience before they step onto a professional set.
SMPA remains committed to preparing young people to bring their very best forward. The program is designed to sharpen students’ instincts and help them stand apart in British Columbia’s talented film and television community.
